Opara axed from Flying Eagles
NFA Secretary General Taiwo Ogunjobi has told KickOffNigeria.com that Etoile du Sahel striker Emeka Opara has been axed from the Under 20 squad after investigations revealed that he was way over the required age limit.
"I have told them that he is not to play the match or even sit on the bench," Ogunjobi declared to KickOffNigeria.com on Thursday.
"We discovered on investigation from his first license with the NFA that he was 24 years old which is way above the age limit, and he lied to us," Ogunjobi told KickOffNigeria.com.
The NFA boss, however did not state if the player would be sanctioned.
He further disclosed that to motivate the players to do well in this weekend's match, the SG told KickOffNigeria.com that he has directed that the players be paid their entitlements on Thursday night.
"I will be joining them on Friday and I expect that by the time I get there, their allowances and entitlements would have been paid."
